Old art

The exhibition features objects of ancient art – sculptures, paintings, furniture, and objects of artistic craft. They present different styles from different eras. We present a collection of Gothic sculpture from the 15th and early 16th centuries with an incredibly beautiful figure of St. James the Elder, patron saint of pilgrims, epitaphs and funeral banner with the only surviving funeral banner of a child in Europe – three-year-old Botho zu Eulenburg and the banner of Friedrich von der Groeben, the participant of the Battle of Vienna.
The exhibits come from palaces, manors, and churches, and were mostly saved from destruction in the difficult postwar years by the founder of the museum, Zofia Licharewa. They document the artistic history of this part of former Prussia and the ties of its inhabitants with European culture.
