Epitaphs from the Territory of Prussia from the 16th to the 18th Century
This exhibition is dedicated to commemorative portraits and epitaphs, collections on the subject of Lutheranism. Epitaphs from the territory of Prussia from the 16th to the 18th century present different styles, document the changes taking place in sacred art, and allow us to trace the issues of artistic patronage in the territory of the Duchy of Prussia. They were created out of a need to preserve the memory of the deceased and from the belief that a good death is the beginning of a new life.
The objects presented at the exhibition come from the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and from our museum.
The exhibition will be presented at the museum until April 2024.
